Dr Prajakta Patil is a renowned consultant psychiatrist based in London and Orpington, with over 20 years’ experience who specialises in the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of adult ADHD, depression, anxiety, PTSD, work stress, and autism spectrum disorder. She is also an expert in psychosis, adjustment disorder, bipolar affective disorder and obsessive-compulsive disorder, and has extensive knowledge in the management of phobias.
Dr Patil, who consults privately from Keats House and Orpington Health and Wellbeing Centre, originally qualified from the University of Mumbai. She has a diploma in Mental Health Law and a postgraduate certification in Child Law, both from Northumbria University, and is a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists since 2008. Dr Patil undertook five years of training in child, adolescent, and adult psychiatry on the prestigious London and Northern Deanery, as well as three years of higher specialist training in forensic psychiatry within South West London and St George’s NHS Trust. In 2023, she was conferred Fellowship of the Royal College of Psychiatrists in recognition of her numerous years' service as a member, as well as her contributions and dedication to the field of psychiatry.
As a highly regarded and dedicated clinician, Dr Patil is passionate about lessening the challenges her patients face in their daily life. She is proficient in both forensic and specialist psychiatric services, and uses evidence-based and holistic approaches to enhance her clinical practice, treating her patients as a whole while simultaneously ensuring good mental health and stability.
Additional to her accomplished clinical practice, Dr Patil is a deputy regional advisor of the South East Division and a previous editor of the Neurodevelopmental Special Interest Group for the Royal College of Psychiatrists. She is a GMC-recognised evaluator, and currently works as a clinical lecturer and lead for quality improvement projects for medical students, as well as a peer-reviewer for the NIHR (National Institute fot Health and Care Research). Dr Patil, who also has a well-established medicolegal expert witness practice, has authored various publications in scientific peer-reviewed journals, and notably served as lead in the past for the assessment of NICE (National Institute of Clinical Excellence) guideline implementation and gap analysis in specialist NHS services.
